Hope Uzodimma Secures Victory with 540,308 Votes in Imo State

Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in all 27 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Imo State. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reported that Uzodimma garnered a total of 540,308 votes, defeating Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 71,503 votes, and Athan Achonu of the Labour Party (LP), who secured 64,081 votes.

The state Returning Officer, Prof Abayomi Fashina, who is also the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, declared Uzodimma the winner on Sunday around 10 am, following over eight hours of collating local government results. Fashina affirmed, “That you Hope Uzodimma of APC, having satisfied the law, is hereby returned elected.”

However, the Peoples Democratic Party and the Labour Party have jointly called for the complete annulment of the poll, alleging collusion between security agents and INEC staff to enable members of the APC to manipulate the election.
