In a significant development for Nigeria’s national defense capability, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is poised to induct its recently acquired T-129 ATAK helicopters and King Air 360i aircraft on February 6, 2024, at the NAF Base in Makurdi, Benue State.
Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the spokesperson for the NAF, announced that the induction ceremony will be presided over by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. However, Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima will represent President Tinubu at the event.
Gabkwet emphasized the importance of this induction, stating that it represents a significant enhancement to Nigeria’s defense capabilities. The new T-129 ATAK helicopters and King Air 360i aircraft are expected to bolster the NAF’s firepower as it collaboratively addresses the various security challenges facing the country alongside sister services and other security agencies.
This development underscores the commitment of the Nigerian government to strengthen its military capabilities and address the evolving security landscape in the nation.
