On Monday, an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan remanded 35-year-old Taiwo Adewale on charges of murder and attempted murder. Magistrate Adebola Adeola, citing lack of jurisdiction, did not take Adewale’s plea and ordered his remand at the federal correctional center in Agodi, Ibadan. The case has been directed to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice, with a mention date set for June 28.

The prosecutor, Inspector Iyabo Oladoyin, stated that Adewale allegedly committed the offenses on January 28 at 5:00 p.m. in Ariku-Oko village, Ibadan. Adewale is accused of unlawfully causing the death of 46-year-old Semiu Olaosebikan by shooting him with a gun. Additionally, he is charged with attempting to murder Soliu Jimoh and Ibrahim Adebayo by shooting at them. The charges are in violation of Sections 324 and 319 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo, 2000.
