A female student from Peaceland College of Education tragically lost her life after being hit by a car during a final year exams celebration at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) in Enugu. The incident, which occurred on Monday evening, also left several students injured.
According to eyewitnesses, the deceased had entered the IMT campus to celebrate with a friend who had just completed her final exams. The celebrations turned fatal when a graduating student, in a reckless display, lost control of his vehicle and drove into the crowd. The car fatally struck the victim, while two other students from IMT’s public administration department sustained injuries.
IMT’s Acting Rector, Dr. Emeka Ejim, expressed deep regret over the accident, reiterating that students had been repeatedly warned about excessive celebrations. He confirmed that one of the injured students will be transferred to the Orthopaedic Hospital Enugu due to a fractured leg.
