Nigerian music fans are buzzing with anticipation for Davido’s new single, “Awuke,” featuring American artist YG Marley. Initially, the DMW label founder announced that the track would debut on streaming platforms today, October 31. However, as the release time approached, many fans took to social media to voice their disappointment over delays.
On Thursday morning, Davido provided an update, sparking further excitement among his followers. He confirmed that “Awuke” would now be available at 6:30 PM GMT, much to the delight of his dedicated fanbase, the 30BG.
In a social media post, Davido teased a dance video with his friend Peller, reinforcing the anticipation. He wrote, “Be happy squad, Awuke is coming! Are you ready? Out tomorrow at 6:30 PM GMT!”
Despite the enthusiasm, some fans expressed frustration, drawing comparisons to Wizkid’s tendency to delay song releases. Comments flooded in on X (formerly Twitter), with users asking, “How far bro @davido? I’m refreshing, but it hasn’t dropped yet,” and others making playful jabs about Davido’s timing.
In a recent TikTok live session with Peller, Davido reportedly received over 300 “lion” gifts, each valued at approximately $400, showcasing his popularity and fan support.
As the clock ticks down to the release, fans remain eager to hear the new track, hoping it lives up to the hype.
