Nollywood actress and politician Hilda Dokubo has strongly refuted reports claiming she was suspended from the Labour Party (LP) in her ward in Asari Toru local government area (LGA) of Rivers State. The suspension was reportedly announced by the party’s ward executive committee on Thursday, citing financial misconduct.
A letter detailing the suspension was addressed to the LP’s chairman of Asari Toru and signed by the ward Chairman Ajalamonia Ibama, Secretary Lole Amacheer, Treasurer Emmanuel Ibamathe, Women Leader Osaki Dieypiriye, and Publicity Secretary Osaki Dokubo.
The ward executives stated that the suspension followed a thorough investigation into the allegations against the 54-year-old actress. However, Dokubo has dismissed these claims, expressing her gratitude for her upbringing and asserting that “thieves wanted to dress me in their dirty coat.”
In a post on Instagram, Dokubo criticized the media for spreading what she described as false narratives about her suspension. She condemned the “paid media” for sensationalizing the issue with misleading headlines and for failing to correct the misinformation with equal fervor.
She wrote, “Thank God my parents raised me well; otherwise, the things king of structure has tried these few days… thieves wanted to dress me in their dirty coat. To all concerned, these are refutals from some of the same PAID propaganda media houses/news agencies that were quick to spread lies. When posting the lies, you all used sensational headlines. When it became time to spread the truth, you all used backhand statements. Where is the sensationalism now? Shame on PAID media.”
