The Lagos State Government (LASG) announced plans to unveil a Labour Management Information System aimed at tackling unemployment in the state. Mrs. Feyisara Alayande, the Acting Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), made this announcement during a media briefing on Monday in Lagos.
The new initiative will be launched at the Lagos Employment Summit, scheduled for July 3 on Victoria Island. Alayande stated that the summit’s goal is to create job opportunities and reduce the unemployment rate in Lagos.
“We are launching a labour management information system that has been in development for a year,” Alayande said. “Our focal point is ensuring that anyone who needs employment data has a reliable source. We encourage job seekers and employers to utilize this platform.”
Alayande also highlighted Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to empowering the Small and Medium Scale Enterprise (SME) community. She noted that the agency had disbursed N10 billion to SMEs, trained 220,000 individuals in various entrepreneurial skills, and supported 500,000 businesses across different sectors in the state.
Mr. Gboyega Akosile, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, emphasized that the summit aligns with the government’s developmental agenda to create value and wealth. He urged residents to take advantage of the program to scale up their businesses and contribute to the state’s economic growth.
