From its inception to its current global standing, Mavin Records has been a driving force in shaping Afrobeats, leaving an indelible mark on the Nigerian music industry.

Founded in 2012 by Don Jazzy, Mavin Records quickly rose to prominence, inheriting the legacy of Mo Hits Records and spearheading a new era of Afrobeat music. Over the past 12 years, the label has served as a launchpad for numerous iconic artists, producers, and industry professionals.

In its early years, Mavin Records was home to luminaries like Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal, and Korede Bello, solidifying its reputation as a powerhouse in the African music scene. Today, the label boasts a diverse roster including Rema, Ayra Starr, Ladipoe, Johnny Drille, and more.

In a testament to its commitment to innovation and inclusivity, Mavin Records expanded its roster in 2022 to include producers and songwriters, ensuring a holistic approach to music production. Additionally, initiatives like the Mavin Future Five program demonstrate the label’s dedication to nurturing the next generation of music industry leaders.

Reflecting on the milestone, Don Jazzy expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the label’s success, emphasizing the collective effort in building a lasting legacy. Chief Operating Officer Tega Oghenejobo echoed this sentiment, highlighting Mavin’s ambitious plans for the future.

As Mavin Records celebrates its 12th anniversary, it continues to push the boundaries of creativity and excellence. The recent acquisition of a majority stake by Universal Music further cements the label’s position as a powerhouse in Nigerian music, paving the way for even greater achievements in the years to come.
