Evangelist Mike Bamiloye, founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, shared a heartfelt reflection on his humble marital beginnings, revealing that he couldn’t afford his wedding expenses, including his suit and apartment.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Bamiloye detailed how his chief groomsman purchased the suit and shirt he wore on his wedding day, as he lacked the funds. He also admitted that he couldn’t afford a honeymoon, staying in an apartment rented by his sister.
“When I got married, I didn’t have any money to take my wife on a honeymoon. We stayed in the house we just rented, thanks to my big sister,” Bamiloye wrote.
He recounted that his sister-in-law bought his wedding shoes and socks, and a member of his ministry helped him pay for his wife Gloria’s wedding gown rental. Despite attempting to have a court marriage, they couldn’t afford the N170 fee and didn’t obtain a government marriage certificate until years later.
Bamiloye emphasized that the money gifted at his wedding was used to settle debts, and within two days, he and his wife had no funds. However, he expressed gratitude to God for how far they’ve come, appreciating the grace that sustained them and the contentment of his wife, Gloria.
The couple, who married on October 8, 1988, are blessed with three children—Joshua, Damilola, and Darasimi.
