Mr Macaroni, the renowned Nigerian content creator and activist, has criticized the Nigeria Police in response to their spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi’s comments on a female officer’s expensive phone. Adejobi had shared a photo of the officer and the secretary to the Inspector General of Police, DSP David Victoria, on social media. Some users questioned how the officer could afford a pricey Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 phone on her salary. Adejobi defended her, stating that police officers aren’t poor.
Mr Macaroni, reacting to Adejobi’s statement, emphasized the need for the police to stop profiling Nigerian youths based on their belongings. He pointed out the hypocrisy of the police criticizing expensive items while subjecting youths to oppression, extortion, intimidation, and harassment. He urged the police to be objective and empathetic towards the challenges faced by Nigerian youths.
