The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists,NAWOJ Ebonyi state chapter, has elected new executives to pilot the affairs of the association for the next three years.
This is even as Mrs Nkechinyere Oginyi was re-elected unopposed as the chairperson of the Association in Ebonyi state Wednesday at Dr Sam Egwu press Centre, Abakaliki
Addressing the newly elected Exco, the NAWOJ national president, Mrs Aisha Ibrahim, thanks members for their peaceful disposition and appealed they continue making the women in the media profession proud.
The national president represented by the vice president zone C, Mrs Uzoamaka Agbo, also tasked the new executive to set an agenda that would be beneficial to the association.
Earlier, the state chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists Ebonyi state chapter, Comrade Samson Nwafor described the new executive as the most peaceful adding that the Association had for the past three years never relent in making sure that they maintain their support to the union and advised them to keep the flag flying.
The chairman, represented by the secretary, Comrade Nnamdi Akpa, commended NAWOJ leadership in the state and enjoined them to continue to be professional and articulate in their job for the interest of the state.
In her remarks, the newly elected chairperson, Mrs Nkechinyere Oginyi, appreciated members for their support and prayers, appealing for more support as to perform her role optimally.
Nkechinyere, who is Ebonyi state Correspondent of Business Day Newspaper, stated that with the support of members that her office would attract partnership, that would be beneficial to all of them.
“Currently, we are aware of what is happening which NAWOJ is championing and that’s gender mainstreaming , GBV and other things which had been part of our activities but this time around, we are going to intensify our advocacy to ensure that we achieve that.
“As Women Journalists, I know that we are the voices of the voiceless, downtrodden, widows in the society, the less privileged, orphans and the vulnerables, hence,we will continue to speak for them.
“And , as it concern gender mainstreaming especially in the media Houses, NAWOJ will continue to carry that advocacy until that goal is achieved while I am calling that you continue to share that idea no matter how hard it is, but, for the interest of women Journalists.
Meanwhile, other members of the elected executive are: Mrs, Nnenna Benedict, Okpara Oko Ebere, Chinwe Imo-Eze, Dr Mrs Chinelo Okoro, Assistant Secretary and Mrs Pauline Nwaneri for state Auditor.
