Sanwo-Olu Appoints Sam Egube as New Deputy Chief of Staff

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has appointed Sam Egube as the new Deputy Chief of Staff. This position was previously held by the late Gboyega Soyannwo, who was recently laid to rest.

Egube, who formerly served as the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, brings extensive experience to his new role. His appointment was announced on Wednesday during the commissioning of 15 high-capacity ferries, an initiative aimed at increasing ridership on the state’s waterways.

Despite being renominated as Commissioner in 2023, Egube was rejected by the House of Assembly. However, his expertise in budget and economic planning will be invaluable in his new position.

Egube is scheduled to be sworn in as Deputy Chief of Staff on Thursday, marking a new chapter in his career and a new era for the state government.

The previous Deputy Chief of Staff, Gboyega Soyannwo, passed away on May 15 after suffering a stroke. He was 55 years old and had a distinguished education at Corona School Victoria Island and Kings College, Lagos.
