A renown islamic scholar, Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, has urged Chief Imams to always abide with the ethics of preaching.
Khalil gave the advice in a paper he presented during a two-day seminar/training of Chief Imams of Juma’at Mosques in Katsina on Wednesday.

He cautioned Imams to be wary of what they always preach to the congregation during their sermons.
According to him, there are things that can cause uprising and Chief Imams should always avoid such things.
Kalil said: “It is just like the media, they have ethics, and they are restricted from publishing or broadcasting news that can instigate chaos or because of national interest.
“What the Chief Imams are expected in their Huddubah (Sermon) is to preach things that would educate and enlighten the people, not to preach things that could breach peace, unity and security of the nation,” the scholar advised.
He also urged the clerics to centre their sermons on things that affect the society positively and not negative issues that could cause problems.
