Secondus: New dawn for party- Niger PDP

Niger state chapter of the main opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described last Saturday’s election that brought, Mr. Uche Secondus as the new national chairman of the party as the beginning of a new dawn for the party.

“Emergence of Uche Secondus as the new party national chairman is the leeway into the exit of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and reign of hunger and hardship infested on Nigerians in the past two years”, the party said.

The party in a congratulatory message to the new national officers, signed by the state chairman, Alhaji Tanko Beji and made available to newsmen on Monday said, “The successful election and the emergence of Secondus marks end of imposition and impunity in the party”.

“PDP in Niger state is congratulating Uche Secondus and other national officers elected to pilot the affairs of the party, we are confident that the national chairmanship of the PDP would bring about progress and unity for the party”, the statement said.

“There is no doubt that your overwhelming victory with 2, 000 votes out of, 2, 396 total number of delegates at the convention is a testimony to your acceptability by majority of the delegates present at the convention and the PDP members at home and in the diaspora”, it further disclosed.

Beji further hinted that the election which was well attended by party faithful from across the country, “Your victory is also an endorsement of your leadership capabilities and the belief that you possess all that it takes to move our great party to greater heights”.

Election of Secondu as national chairman, Beji pointed out ‘are reward for your steadfastness, loyalty and dedication to the party and what it stands for before, during and after the crisis that engulfed PDP especially when some enemies of the party and democracy tried to derail us”.

Tanko Beji who however advised the new national chairman and others elected into other positions to be wary of enemies of the party, while pledging the support and loyalty of PDP members in Niger state.

Beji expressed optimisms that the PDP is bouncing back stronger said, “We congratulate all the newly elected national officers. We are however urging the new PDP leadership to be wary of sycophants who could derail your plans for the party ahead of the coming elections”.

Avoid the pitfalls of the past that caused the intra-party crisis which led to its defeat in 2015, Beji pointed out, saying, “Now that the national convention is over, the new leadership should use the new spirit in the party to start preparations for the 2019 general election”.
