US, India Lead 172 Nations at RIFF 2024

The 2024 edition of the Rivers International Film Festival (RIFF) is set to take place from October 24 to 27 in Port Harcourt, with 172 countries, including the United States and India, participating. Organizers revealed that over 2,230 films have been submitted for this year’s event, a significant increase from the 582 entries received from 82 countries during the festival’s inaugural edition in 2023.

Festival Director Mrs. Kate Ezeigbo announced during a media briefing that the event, which focuses on empowering filmmakers and promoting cultural dialogue, will showcase films addressing topics such as gender inequality, racism, social justice, and marginalized communities. In addition to screenings, RIFF will also offer free medical services for film practitioners and social impact initiatives aimed at supporting the creative industry.By Dennis Naku
