West Ham United Targets Lookman for January Move

West Ham United is leading the pursuit of Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman, currently playing for Atalanta. The London club aims to outmaneuver Premier League rivals Manchester United, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain for his signature, according to reports from PUNCH Sports Extra.

As per GIVEMESPORT, the Hammers see the 2024 Ballon d’Or nominee as a crucial addition to enhance Julen Lopetegui’s attacking options following a challenging start to the season.

Lookman had a standout 2023/24 campaign with Atalanta, netting 17 goals and providing 10 assists in all competitions. Notably, he achieved a historic hat-trick in the Europa League final, leading Atalanta to their first European trophy.

In the recent Ballon d’Or rankings, Lookman secured a commendable 14th place, surpassing notable Premier League players like Bukayo Saka, Martin Ødegaard, and Cole Palmer. Despite being under contract with Atalanta until 2026, the 27-year-old could be available for around €25 million.

Italian reports suggest that Lookman is eager for a new challenge and may consider leaving the Serie A club in January. This season, he has continued to impress, scoring five goals and providing five assists in just 10 appearances.

West Ham views Lookman as the perfect fit for their attack, which includes Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus, and Lucas Paquetá. The club is looking to strengthen their forward line, particularly with Michail Antonio aging and summer signing Niclas Füllkrug struggling to make an impact.
