In a recent appeal to the residents of Abuja, Mr. Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has urged them to avoid participating in the planned nationwide protest set to commence on August 1. Wike made this appeal while interacting with the community after inspecting the ongoing construction of Saburi Road in Abuja.
Wike expressed that the protest, which is being organized in response to the current issues of hunger and insecurity, is politically motivated and aimed at destabilizing President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He assured the residents that President Tinubu is fully aware of the economic difficulties facing the country and is working diligently to address them. Wike described the present situation of hunger and suffering as temporary and emphasized that the government’s ongoing reforms and policies are designed to yield positive results in the near future.
The minister urged Abuja residents to remain patient and avoid joining the protest, arguing that such actions would not resolve the underlying problems. He reassured them that the government is making genuine efforts to alleviate the current hardships and that their patience will be rewarded as improvements are made.
Addressing concerns raised by the residents, Wike committed to constructing a police station in Saburi. Additionally, Mr. Christopher Maikalangu, Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council, promised to build a health facility in the community. Wike also confirmed that the ongoing road project in Saburi would be completed as scheduled, stating that work on the project has been continuous since its initiation.
Wike’s comments reflect the government’s position on the planned protests and its dedication to resolving the challenges faced by citizens through ongoing reforms and infrastructure development.
