Edo University Iyamho Debunks Media Report

The authority of Edo University Iyamho has condemned the purported report accredited to the Vice Chancellor of the university saying that the school is not meant for poor Nigerians.

Some on line and national newspapers have carried a report credited to the VC, saying that, “Edo University, Iyamho is not for “Poor Nigerians”.

In a release made available to pressmen in Benin City, and signed by the register of the school, Doctor Isoken Igboro, said never a time did the VC made such a statement.

She said, the authorities never agreed with such headlines, that, those captions are sensational headlines calculated to tarnish the image of university.

“We believe that the misleading headlines may have been initiated by people motive d by partisan hegemonistic interest who found it appropriate to use online media as instrument to implement those interests”, she added.

She further added that, “Edo University is a world Class University designed to provide quality education geared towards the socio economic, political and technological advancement of the Nigerian State and indeed the world irrespective of social status.”

According to her, “there is a built-in scheme for the poor known as the” Undergraduate Indigent Students Scholarship Awards (ISSA) and the Undergraduate Full Scholarship Award (UFSA) which are purely designed to reward excellence and provide access to quality education to indigent students.”

She appealed to the general public and all readers to please ignore the misleading report as the VC chancellor, never in any time made such statement.

Adding that the school is a state own university not a private one as being speculated.
