By Najem Francis, Sokoto

The former governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has appealed to politicians in positions of power whether elected or appointed as well as wealthy individuals in the society to focus on the welfare, security and comfort of the citizens.

A statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Bashkir Rabe Mani, quoted the former governor’s address to the closing of a screening test for the applicants of the Computer Graduate Recruitment Exercise which was facilitated by him.

Wamakko was also quoted as saying:”we, either as politicians, appointed officials or wealthy individuals should always strive to accord top priority to the provision of the basic needs of the people.

” We should never waiver in doing this, rather than according priority attention to our selfish interests and desires.

” As politicians, the interests of the electorate should always take centre stage, it is not just to disappear after winning elections and only come back to the electorate when we need their votes.”

While reiterating unwavering commitment to assist the youths in acquiring education as well as secure more employment opportunities for them, at all levels, he commended the applicants for their discipline and orderliness while the test lasted, assuring them of equal and just treatment

In his speech, Mr John Ayeni, Head of Operations, Infotrak Research and Consulting Firm, stated that over 270 applicants had written the aptitude test.

He promised a level playing ground for all the candidates and assured that all those successful would be invited for subsequent interview.
