Kwara Dep Gov explains reasons for head count of state workers

Kwara State Government has explained that the head count of Civil Servants currently going on is to fish out ghost workers.

It is also to know the actual workers on its pay roll as the current wage bill is on the high side.

The State Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi, who stated this on Wednesday in Ilorin while receiving the Executive and members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria ICAN, Ilorin and District Society led its Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Baba Ibrahim in his office, explained that the current wage bill of over N2 billion would leave the State with nothing to execute developmental projects germane to the people.

The Deputy Governor pledged that the present administration would support and require the services of professional bodies to move the State forward.

He called on ICAN to advise the State on the way forward especially in the area of revenue generation to meet the needs of the people.

Earlier the Chairman of the body, Alhaji Mohammed Baba Ibrahim, had said the emergence of the present administration is a true reflection of integrity, diligence and loyalty even as he prayed God to assist them in piloting well the affairs of the State.

Alhaji Mohammed reiterated the commitment and willingness of the District to collaborate with the administration to achieve a better Kwara, saying the District would come up with a blueprint document on how to improve the internally generated revenue of the State optimally and reduce cost of governance drastically.

He solicited the support of the State government in funding its proposed District Secretariat, sponsorship of its members in the state Service for its annual conference and the appointment of its members in key professional positions.

Mr Alabi also received the Executive and members of the Asepo Egbe Omo Igbomina led by its National President, Honourable Toyin Adewara who pledged their support to the present administration and called for the creation of more Local governments from the present Ifelodun, Irepodun and Isin Local government areas.
