Aside various measures already in place in ensuring that the dreaded coronavirus pandemic ravaging the world does not spread to Kwara state, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Tuesday inaugurated the Technical Committee on the virus with a charge to members to carry out the assignment with the diligence, commitment and sacrifice it deserves.
The committee, which is headed by Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi, has members drawn from all spheres and professional bodies.
At its inaugural meeting on Tuesday, Chairman of the Committee reminded members of the task before the committee which, he said, was to safeguard the health of Kwarans by controlling the spread of COVID-19 which is ravaging the globe like wildfire.
Mr. Alabi also said the committee’s work is missionary-like, which requires members’ passion and commitment, charging them to justify the confidence reposed in them by government. According to Alabi, skills, expertise and diligence were some of the criteria used in selecting members of the Technical Committee on COVID-19.
Also speaking, Special Adviser to Governor AbdulRazaq on Health Matters, who is also the Secretary of the Technical Committee on COVID-19, Professor Wale Sulyman explained that prevention of COVID-19 is one of the ways to mitigate the effect of the disease and called for aggressive education and awareness for the populace.
The Technical Committee comprises Medical, Policy Enforcement, Border Security and Patrol and Public Education and Awareness subcommittees.
Others are Grassroot Mobilization and Engagement, Political Awareness, Religion and Media subcommittees.
