Kwara will give priority attention to sports, says deputy governor

Kwara State government will give all required attention to sports in view of its potential to the economic development of the youth and the State.

Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi stated this on Friday in Ilorin while receiving the Emirate Sports Promotion Concept, organisers of AGF Abdulrazaq Under 20 soccer tournament in his office.

Mr Alabi, who noted that sports have all the necessary ingredients to positively engage the youth to contribute their quota to the development of the State and the Nation at large, explained that participation of youths in Sports would reduce vices in the society and make them economically independent and productive, adding that government would support the initiative to discover more talents in the state.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Concept, Mallam Bolaji Tapa, who spoke through Bayour Issa, said the tournament was packaged to honour and recognise the contributions of AGF Abdulrazaq to the State and the Nation.

Mallam Bolaji called for the support of the State government to ensure the success of the tournament that would commence on the 28th of this month.

He later announced the State Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi as the Concept’s Patron.

Speaking later in an interview with Journalists, the Secretary of the Concept, Tunde Aluko said thirty two teams drawn from four States Kaduna, Oyo, Osun and Kwara would take part in the tournament.
