LG Poll: Kaduna Deputy Governor drums support for women aspirants

Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe has called for massive support for women aspirants in the forthcoming local government elections in the state.

The Deputy Governor made the call when she received a coalition of women groups under the umbrella of Jam’iyyar Matan Arewa, who paid her a courtesy visit on Thursday in Kaduna.

“The  elections is coming up, I want us to put our best foot, let’s not go there because we are women but because we have something very solid and concrete to offer.

“We are equal to the task, we can compete with anybody if we believe, that will go a long way in helping us because we are strong, we are competent, we have the capacity.

“Let’s go there with that determination, with confidence and I am sure we will make a difference.

“It is not going to be easy, the message is to support one another, this is my task.

“How can we make it possible for our women who are coming out for elections, how can we put out our voices, it is that strong will that we should have.

“I am challenging everyone that if a woman comes out to contest let us support her, I want us to work together,” the deputy governor stressed.

She added that women in the state must lead in supporting the aspirants and commended the group  for always supporting one another.

Balarabe also spoke on the administration of Gov. Nasir El-Rufai, who she said was a gender inclusive governor.

Our correspondent reports that the delegation, led by Florence Aya, had canvassed the support of the deputy governor for women aspirants in the forthcoming local council elections in the state.
