Some members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who were deployed to Sokoto State have commended Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal for the fatherly role he played during their service year and have appealed to other public officials to follow his example

One of them, Ms. Ibiateli Christopher, who spoke on their behalf while presenting a gift to the governor in appreciation of a successful service year,  said that having enjoyed a memorable stay in Sokoto, they had resolved to be good ambassadors of the state wherever they found themselves.

“We are here to thank you for you care and concern for our safety, welfare and career development during our service year. You played an important role in making the past one year worthwhile for all of us,” she observed.

“Some of us have resolved to remain behind to continue with our lives here in Sokoto. We are also ready to render our services in the public sector should you consider it fit to employ us. But for those who have decided to move on with their lives away from here, we have resolved.

“We are presenting this gift to you as a mark of appreciation. We pray for God to elevate you and to make Sokoto a shining example for other states of the federation,” she added.

In his response, Governor Tambuwal commended them for remaining peaceful throughout their service year.

He said that Sokoto was peaceful, hospitable and a home to all Nigerians and urged those to continue to uphold the principles of the NYSC scheme by giving their best for the unity and progress of the nation.
