A 28-year-old Welder, Amos Mathew, was on Wednesday arraigned at a Life Camp Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a cell phone valued at N25,000.
Mathew, of Gwarinpa village, Abuja, is standing trial on a one-count charge of theft.
The Police Prosecutor, ASP Peter Ejike, of FCT Command, said one Gideon Gyang, of Works and Housing, Gwarinpa, reported the matter at Gwarinpa Police Station on Feb. 26.

Ejike alleged that on Feb 26, by 8:35pm, the defendant criminally trespassed into Augustine Dalli’s room and stole a Tecno phone valued at N25, 000.
He said that the offence contravened Section 288 of the Penal Code Law.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate Chinyere Nwecheonwu admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000 and one surety in like sum.
Nwecheonwu ordered that the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and should present a means of identification that should be verified by the court officials.
She adjourned the case to March 30, for further hearing.
