Lady Stabs Husband to Death in Imo Over Internet Fraud

A 27-year-old woman, Oluchi Nzemechi, from Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, has been arrested by police for allegedly murdering her husband, Kelechi Nzemechi. The tragic incident reportedly occurred after a dispute over the division of earnings from their internet scamming activities, commonly known as Yahoo Yahoo.

According to ASP Henry Okoye, the Imo Police Public Relations Officer, the suspect has confessed to the crime. Oluchi revealed that she was introduced to cybercrime by her husband. During an argument over dividing the proceeds from scamming an Indonesian individual of 250 million rupiah, she stabbed him with a kitchen knife.

In an attempt to mislead investigators, Oluchi fabricated a note and placed it on her husband’s body, which read, “You think you can eat my money and go free? I am baba for the boys. I am coming for your wife and your child, including your family,” before fleeing the scene.

Oluchi also disclosed that she had been living with Kelechi since 2019 and they have a child together. The police are working to recover the 250 million Indonesian Rupiah for potential restitution to the rightful owner. The suspect is currently under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department and will face prosecution in court.
