Insecurity: troops neutralise bandits in Taraba

Barely 24 hours after being given marching orders, troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army Jalingo, have killed three bandits and recovered some arms and ammunition as well as motorcycle from the bandits.

The Brigade Spokesman Lt Oni who disclosed this in Jalingo on Thursday said that the troops of the Brigade deployed to Karim Lamido local government area of the State engaged the bandits and subdued them in a gun battle.

He said that the troops recovered two AK 47 rifles, a motorcycle and a cache of 7.62mm special Ammunition.

“In a recent operation by the gallant troops of  6 Brigade Nigerian Army deployed in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State yesterday 24 January 2024 achieved a significant victory by neutralizing three notorious bandits. The successful mission also resulted in the recovery of  2 AK-47 rifles, a motorcycle used by the criminals, and a cache of 40 rounds of 7.62 MM  Special ammunition.

“The operation took place in Chibi village where the 6 Brigade troops, acting on actionable intelligence, conducted a precision strike against the criminal elements. The engagement demonstrated the troops’ unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security in Taraba State.

“The Commander 6 Brigade, Brigadier Gen Kingsley Uwa  commended the troops for their bravery and efficiency in executing the operation. He emphasized the military’s determination to rid the State of criminal elements and ensure the safety and well-being of the local population” the statement reads in parts
