staff of Federal Medical Centre, FMC, keffi, in the office of the Head of Administration have been fingered in alleged job racketeering in the hospital.
This is coming on the heels of an outburst from some applicants who had applied for employment in the federal tertiary health facility.
Investigation into the alleged involvement of the staff of the Administration Department revealed that about five persons were kingpins in the unethical conduct.
According to a source from the hospital who spoke on condition of anonymity, some of the applicants paid hundreds of naira while others paid up to N1million with promises that they would be offered employment letters.
The source further disclosed that upon investigation, one of he culprits (name withheld) was found to be in possession of over N200 million.
Further findings had it that the issue of job racketeering has been on for some years in the FMC, Keffi, where the administrative staff enrich themselves with fraudulent job offers.
Our correspondent gathered that those involved had been invited by the Police Area Command in keffi for questioning in order to track down the particular officer that was spearheading the fake job offer to unsuspecting applicants.
It was also learn that more staff of the hospital are under interrogation by the police in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.
A source, who was also lured to pay a sum of N150,000 to secure a job in the medical centre, revealed to our correspondent that he paid the money through an agent who told him that the employment letter would be ready by November this year.

He also foreclosed that a female staff of the hospital was given the opportunity to enlist two persons for employment.
“She gave her son a slot and the son sold it to me for that amount; so I am expecting the letter by November,” he said.
Our correspondent reports that the issue of job racketeering in the tertiary health facility dates back to some few years when the hospital was granted a waiver for employment from the Federal Ministry of Health, Abuja, which some of the top management staff were not aware of due to the over-confidence they reposed on their staff and aides.
When approached for reaction, the Chief Medical Director, Dr Yahaya Baba Adamu told our correspondent on phone that he could not say in clear terms that the matter was true or not, because some of the staff were invited by the police and as a management he has set up a committee on thea matter and he cannot be categorical on the rumour untill the outcome of the investigations.
“So as I speak to you the police are carrying out their interrogation and we have also set up a committee for that, except established to be true or not, I cannot at this point say any thing.
“This is an administrative thing and is not that we are folding our hands against it, but untill proven to be true or a mere rumour, I cannot preempt the ongoing investigations,” he said.
