Chairman Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, Benue State chapter Levi Akuma, has lauded efforts of the Alia administration for implementing accumulated promotion of primary school teachers in the state.
Akuma who was giving a score card of the Alia administration in the education sector in an interview with journalists in Makurdi, described implementation of the Seventeen-year- old accumulated promotions as a moral booster to primary school teachers who had felt neglected and abandoned by previous administrations.
He equally distanced the union leadership from the arbitrary deduction saga of some primary school teachers salaries that sparked off protest by teachers who were affected by the development in some local government areas, insisting that the NUT under his leadership was not aware of such deductions.
The NUT Chairman who commended governor Hyacinth Alia for being up- to- date in payment of salaries and pensions since he came on board also commended the SUBEB Chairman Grace Adagba for pragmatic leadership approach to issues at the board.
He noted with satisfaction that what she is doing has already corrected the many wrongs that had existed at the board, attributing the implementation of the One-year- old accumulated promotions to her good work in office and assured government of the union’s support to enable it succeed.
