Revolutionizing Nigeria’s Mining Sector: Launch of Nigerian Minerals Resource Decision Support System

In a significant milestone for Nigeria’s mining industry, the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development unveiled the Nigerian Minerals Resource Decision Support System (NMDSS) during a landmark event in Abuja on May 14, 2024. Dr. Oladele Alake, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, emphasized the event’s importance in advancing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Dr. Alake underscored the need for international competitiveness and attracting foreign direct investment to the mining sector. He acknowledged the challenges in investment attraction and emphasized the necessity for innovative strategies to gain a competitive advantage. The Minister hailed the NMDSS as a game changer, describing it as the most investor-friendly magnet ever introduced to the industry.

The NMDSS revolutionizes investment prospecting by providing easy access to crucial data on geology, hydrology, and urban geography of mining sites, eliminating the need for costly physical visits. Dr. Alake highlighted the software’s features in easing the business environment by providing comprehensive information and electronic maps, enabling investors to make informed decisions effectively.

Expressing confidence in the NMDSS, Dr. Alake emphasized its role in demonstrating the administration’s commitment to investment promotion and accelerating business setup in the mining sector. With the unveiling of the software, he officially launched the Nigerian Minerals Resource Decision Support System, heralding a new era of growth and development in Nigeria’s mining industry.

Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, conveyed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering dedication to the Solid Minerals sector.
