The Deputy Governor of Yobe state, Hon. Idi Barde Gubana, has flagged off the 7th distribution of school fees and learning materials by GORBO ORPHANAGE FOUNDATION held in Damagum, Fune local government in the state.
In his opening remarks, the Deputy Governor who is also the founder of the orphanage foundation, explained that one of the surest way of getting the pleasure of Almighty Allah is showing kindness to the orphans and the under privileged among the community.
Gubana expressed appreciation to Governor Mai Mala Buni for encouraging him in this and similar humanitarian activities for the development of peaceful and egalitarian society.
He enjoined the participants to continue to embark on looking after orphans, particularly the children left behind by deceased neighbors.
Highlights of the occasion include the laying of the foundation stone for the commencement of the construction of Gorbo orphanage foundation, Islamiyya and learning center by the Deputy Governor at Damagum town.
Similarly, the foundation has established 63 learning centers in various communities for men and women to learn basic Islamic knowledge.
In his keynote address, the speaker Yobe state House of assembly Rt Hon Chiroma Buba Mashio, described education status is an important indicator of children’s wellbeing and future life opportunity.
The guest speaker at the occasion and grand patron of the foundation, Shiekh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa noted that an orphan is a person who has lost his father or both his parents before the age of maturity.
He appealed to the well to do individuals to emulate the good deeds of state Deputy Governor, Hon Idi Barde Gubana by sponsoring orphans in their immediate communities.
