Adamawa Constitutes Enquiry On Farmers/Herdsmen Clash

In an effort to put an end to constant conflict between Fulani herdsmen and farmers in Adamawa State, the Government has constituted an Seven (7)man administrative panel of enquiry to investigate the remote causes of conflict between Fulani herdsmen and farmers in the state.
While speaking to newsmen at the end of an emergency security meeting at the government house Yola, the state commissioner for information Hon Ahmed Sajoh said the panel is to ascertain remote causes of the crises, level of damage, and to advise government on the steps to take in order to avoid future reoccurrence.
He explained that the panel of enquiry is expected to submit their findings as well as its recommendations within life span of three weeks stressing that the panel is a standing committee that will addressing issues relating to farmers and herdsmen conflicts in the state.
Commenting on the development representative of the farmers in the state, Mr. Pius Raymond said the formation of the committee is long overdue with the ways crisis is happening between the warring parties.
On his side, Representative of the herdsmen, Mallam Abdullahi Umaru expressed satisfaction with the committee saying that the message will be taken to remaining herdsmen in their respective domains so that peace can be given a chance as requested by the Government.
It will be recalled that the state has recorded farmers and herdsmen crisis recently in Girei And Demsa Local Government councils where many people lost their lives and properties worth millions of Naira were destroyed.
The Members of the committee are Justice Nathan Musa as chairman, Barrister Bashir Hamidu as Secretary .other members are; Abubakar s. Magaji, Bishop Mike Moses, Alhaji Jaoji Isah, Mr. Herold Fada and Hon. Christopher Jalo.
Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.
According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.
Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.
Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.
Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
