Boko Haram: Reactions trail Gov.Zulum’s convoy attack, some allege insider job
By: Our Correspondent
Nigerian have been reacting to twin attacks on the convoy of Borno state Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, with some people suspecting an insider information on the convoys movement.

Some citizens have taken to their Facebook to to condemn the attack and suggest possible ways the insurgency could be addressed, even as others insinuate that there may be sabotage in the whole saga.
Mist of the reactions came following an interview granted to BBC Hausa service, by the state Attorney General, Barrister Kaka Shehu Lawan, who was on the entourage, when the incident happened.
The Attorney General, who related how the insurgents detonated three remotely controlled improvised explosive devices, IEDs before raining bullets on the long convoy of vehicles said apparently, ISWAP may have relied on accurate intelligence to track and attack the governor convoy.
He said, judging from their precision on the attack, there is the likelihoods that, the militants may have their insiders in Maiduguri or in the entourage itself given the way and manner the ambush was carried out.
” Boko Haram appeared to be better at intelligence than state agencies. We can not defeat them until and unless we beat them at intelligence gathering and utilisation. The authorities must invest in get reliable information not only on the group, but also on their informants.” He said
While reacting on this, Musa Shettima Usman said, ” This scene has to do with insiders in both the military, police force and others base on selfish interest. Our security agencies, meaning the loyal ones has to bring new strategy whenever they are travelling out of town. And they should try hard to trace those feeding their information out to Boko Haram.”
Abdulhaleem Elfulayh observed that, with the way things are it would be difficult to defeat the insurgence or rather they can not be defeated.
“In that case, they can NEVER be defeated. As long as we donnot own any in house telecommunication firm or agency, all our data base in foreign tele-sites are open secrets. I am sure even the Villa’s secrets are at the disposal of any intruder – current or potential. The first step to take is to revive NITEL and secondly to lift up most of the rights and privileges enjoyed by the service providers.” He said
Ibrahim Adam said, ” With this questions about insider, I believe some anti government agents are at work. Hypocrisy among government officials is worse and more than corruption. Corruption only takes money, while hypocrisy takes lives of innocent people.”
Also Ismail Haruna Ibrahim put this, ” Of course, there is a point of view with recent happenings especially with the attack on the governor’s convoy. All this is happening due to lack of intelligence gathering amongst the military and its sister agencies. If there is synergy between the security operatives this can not be happening. I want the Federal Government to put pressure on our service providers for tracing information.
For Alhaji Modu Gubio, he believes that ISWAP informants unlikely are in the town. ” The best way out is for the security agencies to be vigilant and revisit their intelligence channels for leaks” he said.
