Appointment of Uselu Psychiatric Hospital CMD against FG’s Change Agenda

Some aggrieved staff of the Federal Neuro-Psychiatrist Hospital in Uselu, Benin City, have condemned the appointment of the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the facility, Dr. Sunday Osasu Olotu for a second tenure by the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo recently.

In a letter addressed to the Acting President, they asserted that “the reward of Dr. Sunday Osasu Olotu with a second term is not in tandem with the CHANGE AGENDA of the current administration.”

They believed that Professor Osinbajo was misled by “some individuals who fear that they might be linked to the monumental sleaze ongoing in the hospital,” adding

“We do not believe that the anti-corruption war will be abandoned in our hospital under your watch”, they stated.

Going down memory lane, the whistle-blowers reminded the acting President that they had written “several letters in the past two (2) years to the Presidency in respect of our predicament, sadly though all to no avail.

“For the records one of us Late Pharmacist (Barr) Peter Olusesan Esan a Director and the Head of the Pharmacy Department succumbed due to his ordeal in the hands of Dr. Sunday Osasu Olotu and his lackeys.

“Sir, we only hope and pray that the government under your watch as Acting President will not sit and watch till another individual, God forbid, succumbs to the monumental ongoing human rights violation and gross affront of the CHANGE AGENDA in our hospital” they further said.

They alleged that “Dr Sunday Olotu boasted at a recent meeting he held with some nurses on Monday, 5th June 2017, that the phantom cases which he is using to blackmail some of us will proceed till eternity.

“The above assertion lends credence to the delay tactics deployed in one of the cases where he used Ms T.I Agho (a former Secretarial Staff of Edo State Post Primary Education Board whom he inappropriately employed as an Assistant Chief Social Welfare Officer) to frame us.

“The case which has been on for nearly three (3) years (a grave affront on the spirit and letter of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015; ACJA 2015) at the Egor Magistrate Court 2 Benin City, suffered another setback when the Prosecutor (M.O Iguodala Esq) hired by Dr. Sunday Olotu’s cohorts applied for a further adjournment in a letter dated 1st June 2017 to the Registrar of the Court, on the grounds that he lost his brother in-law”, the workers claimed in the letter.

In their prayers they appealed to Professor Osinbajo “to direct the immediate withdrawal of the second term appointment given to our tormentor-in-chief Dr. Olotu as M.D of FNPH-Uselu; our immediate re-instatement, and payment of all our outstanding salaries, promotion arrears and arrears of relativity. Our families and dependants should not be made to suffer because we exposed massive acts of corruption at FNPH-Uselu and the Federal Ministry of Health during the ‘Transformation Era’; the Withdrawal of phantom cases instituted in Magistrate Courts against members of staff by the Police from Okhoro Division and AIG Zone 5 of the Nigeria Police; probe of officers of the Nigerian Police involved in the orchestration of the phantom cases against innocent members of staff and meting out appropriate disciplinary measures on them among others.

Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.

According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.

Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.

Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.

Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
