Napoli proposes annual salary of N6.5bn to Osimhen

Italian champions Napoli have made a contract extension offer to Victor Osimhen, with a proposed two-year deal and an annual salary of N6.5bn (€6.5m) plus €1m in bonuses. Osimhen, who has two years remaining on his current contract, had requested an annual salary of €7m to extend his stay with Napoli. The club is determined to secure Osimhen’s services amid interest from other top European clubs.

The new contract, if agreed upon, would also include a release clause set at £170m. Osimhen played a pivotal role in Napoli’s Serie A title triumph, scoring 26 goals in 32 league appearances.

Skysports reported that Napoli is in advanced talks with Osimhen for the contract extension, which would keep him at the club until 2027. The discussions involve raising his salary to €6.5m per year, along with an additional €1m in bonuses.

Napoli’s new manager, Rudi Garcia, expressed confidence that Osimhen wants to stay and continue achieving great things with the club in the upcoming season. Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, also dismissed rumors that his client had no intention of signing a new contract, branding them as fake news.

The Nigerian striker is expected to join Napoli for pre-season training after enjoying a successful season, becoming the first African player to win the prestigious Capocannoniere award for being the top scorer in Serie A.
