Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development has bestowed an esteemed Award of Excellence on Hajiya Habibat Salman Saidu, Permanent Secretary, Kwara state Ministry of Tertiary Education, for her exceptional contributions to the promotion of gender inclusion and women empowerment.

The prestigious Award was presented to Hajia Habibat Salman Saidu at a grand ceremony held at the Maryam Babangida National Centre, Abuja.

The epoch-making event was attended by prominent officials, dignitaries, and women leaders from various sectors across the nation.

Hajiya Habibat Salman Saidu, who rose through the ranks in the Kwara State civil service, has been at the forefront of championing gender equality and women’s empowerment in Kwara State, showing unwavering commitment, visionary leadership, and relentless efforts which have resulted in significant advancements for women in the field of tertiary education.

She has actively promoted gender equity within the ministry, fostering an inclusive environment that empowers women to pursue higher education and career development.

Recognising the importance of education as a catalyst for women’s progress, Hajia Habibat Salman Saidu has spearheaded initiatives to increase female enrollment in tertiary institutions.

Her strategic measures have successfully encouraged more young women to pursue higher education, fostering a generation of empowered and skilled female professionals.

In her acceptance speech, Hajia Habibat Salman Saidu expressed her gratitude for the recognition and highlighted the importance of gender inclusion and women’s empowerment in achieving a prosperous society, while emphasising the need for continued efforts to bridge the gender gap in various sectors, particularly in the field of education, where women’s participation remains crucial.

The Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development applauded Hajia Habibat Salman Saidu’s exceptional dedication and outstanding achievements, commending her as a role model for aspiring female leaders as well as her efforts in creating an enabling environment for women to thrive.

Pius Akutah’s Alleged Fraud at Nigerian Shippers Council Uncovered

Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.

According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.

Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.

Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.

Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
