Southern Mandate of Nigeria Condemns Police Action
By Ikhili Monday EBALU, Benin City
A group operating under the aegis of Southern Mandate of Nigeria (SMN) weekend frowned at the way and manner the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of IGP Ibrahim Idris is handling the case of the recent fracas at the Palace of the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi 11.
SMN which expressed its anger in a statement in Benin the Edo State Capital which was signed by its National Coordinator, Francis Ikonomwan said “We are really not surprised at the action and inaction of the Ibrahim Idris led Nigeria Police Force on this matter.”
“Our independent investigation revealed that the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris is being vindictive on the person of Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his supporters because Ibrahim Idris want to use his office as Inspector General of Police to avenge Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso over existing irreconcilable differences between them”
SMN recalled that Mr. Ibrahim Musa now Inspector General of Police was a Commissioner of Police during the second tenure of Engr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as Kona State Governor.
“At that time, Engr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso abolished Security Vote in April 2012 declaring it illegal and that security funding should follow normal budgetary process.
“Mr. Ibrahim Idris was never comfortable with this arrangement. We gathered that, he viewed this as starving his office of funds. He now want to use his office as Inspector General of Police as a weapon of massive destruction on Kwankwaso and his supporters
“If he disagree with our findings, we challenge the Inspector General of Police to explain to Nigerians the reason for his alleged complicity in the attack at the Emir Palace.
“We were not surprised when the Police addressed the press on the matter; they openly indicted Kwankwasiyya Movement as responsible for the clash that disrupted the traditional Durbar to mark the Eid-El kabir at the Emirs of Kano’s Palace.
“And yet the Police Commissioner, Mr Rabiu Yusuf aka, Chairman of Gandujiyya faction of APC in Kano state is alleged to have said that he has inaugurated a powerful team to unravel the immediate and remote causes of the clash.
“With this action of the Police so far, we of the Southern Mandate of Nigeria (SMN) therefore posit that the Police has already pre-determined the outcome of such Investigative Panel by indicting the Kwankwasiyya Movement as being responsible for this unholy act.
“If they have already concluded that the Kwankwasiyya Movement was responsible for the atrocities, why setting up panel of investigation again?
“We view this as a double standard on the part of the Nigeria Police Force under the stewardship of IGP Ibrahim Idris.
“We want to enjoin Mr. Ibrahim Idrs to rather concentrate his energy on addressing the security challenges in Nigeria rather than being involved in local partisan politics.
“Insecurity is already almost tearing Nigeria apart in his tenure as IGP, therefore, he will be highly honoured if he employs his professional expertise to address this increasing security challenges.
“It is imperative to state without fear or favour that Peace and Tranquility is very prominent in Kwankwasiyya ideology. The Kwankwasiyya believes that, development can never be achieved without Peace. This is the secret of success of Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
“On this note, the Leadership of Southern Mandate of Nigeria (SMN) wish to call on Mr. Mike Okiro, the Chairman of Police Service Commission to urgently do the needful by redeploying Mr. Rabiu Yusuf from Kano state before he destroys the peace that is enjoyed in the state”, the group stated.

Pius Akutah’s Alleged Fraud at Nigerian Shippers Council Uncovered
Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.
According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.
Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.
Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.
Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
