Insecurity: Man Declares Hunger Strike For 30 days

A 39-year-old man, Roy Oribhabor, has, began a-30-day hunger strike to berate the high level of insecurity in Edo State.
Addressing newsmen in Benin City under the aegis of “The Voice of the Commoners in Nigeria on Security Situation in Edo State” said the rate of insecurity in the state has assumed unprecedented dimension, saying urgent steps must be taken to curtail the ugly trend through the establishment of Neighbourhood Security Agency.
“Yours sincerely is seriously worried about this inhuman development in our society therefore; it has become pertinent to call on Edo State Government to establish Neighbourhood Security Agency to tackle the trend of insecurity.
“Hence, I, Roy Oribhabor hereby declare hunger strike from today 9 October, 2017 to 8 November, 2017 to call the world attention and also government to provide adequate security and unconditional release of Amb. Osayomore Joseph and Mr. Andy Ehanire”, he said.
Oribhabor said few months ago, the immediate past chairman of Etsako East local government area, Hon. Johnson Afegbua was killed by unknown gunmen along Benin-Auchi road while recently, Mr. Andy Ehanire and Amb. Osayomore Joseph were kidnapped in the state.
“You will recall on March 16, 2017, the immediate past chairman, Etsako Eas local government area, Hon. Johnson Afegbua was gruesome murdered along Benin-Auchi road.
“Also, my car was stolen on February 8, 2017. A Toyota Camry with reg. No BEN 39 PD, Ash colour, chassis No 4TIBE22K5WU2781176. Engine No 55050577635.
“On 31 March, 2017, the beloved wife of Hon. Vincent Uwadiae, Mrs. Tina Uwadiae was kidnapped with her two children.
“On 30 September 2017, popular DJ MOG was robbed and shut. Mr. Andy Ehanire was kidnapped as if that was not enough, Amb. Osayomore Joseph also kidnapped and the wife shut, Prof. Paul Otasowie was killed. This is just to mention but few”, he said.
He however called on the state and the federal governments to formulate direction to rescue and prevent criminal behaviour and also withstand the terrorizing dispositions of the criminal elements that have made the state unbearable for the citizens.
“The security situation in our dear state is gradually unfriendly and worrisome hence my sincere desire to draw state government and world generally attention to it and formulate direction to rescue and prevent criminal behaviour and also withstand the terrorizing dispositions of the men of the underworld to continuously molest, harass and intimidate the law abiding citizens.
“We can no longer sleep with our two eyes closed. I hereby condemned the activities of criminal elements and their behaviours to undermine the security of law abiding citizens”, he said

Pius Akutah’s Alleged Fraud at Nigerian Shippers Council Uncovered
Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.
According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.
Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.
Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.
Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
