The Rock Foundation for Widows, Orphans & Less Privileged (ROFWOL), led by founder Mrs Favour Chika-Okafor, has launched a campaign against cervical cancer, emphasizing the need for collective efforts in the fight against the disease. The non-profit organization, dedicated to empowering underprivileged children and poor widows, announced plans to provide free cervical cancer services to vulnerable Nigerians, especially children and widows. Mrs Chika-Okafor highlighted the prevalence of cervical cancer in Nigeria and its impact, with 8,000 women losing their lives to the disease annually. The campaign, part of ROFWOL’s 22nd-anniversary commemoration, aims to create awareness, offer free screening tests, and seek support from corporate bodies and individuals to address the significant financial requirements. Mrs Chika-Okafor, with a background in Chemical Engineering and over 18 years of business management experience, retired from the corporate sector to focus on her non-profit foundation. The campaign event is scheduled for Sunday, December 10, in Lagos.
