In an effort to tackle transborder security challenges between parts of Taraba State in Nigeria and the Republic of Cameroon, the Lamdo Gashaka Dr. Zubairu Hamman Gabdo has engaged his counterpart from the Republic of Cameroon the Lamdo Banyo Senator Muhamman Gabdo Yahya on how to collaborate best at their levels as traditional rulers.

Taraba State is home to several refugees from Cameroon and there have been increasing cases of cross border attacks that have claimed several lives and leaved several villages in ruins.

Dr Hamman Gabdo noted that the two Chiefdoms have so much in common that even though they are in different countries, it is important to ensure that they stay as friends rather than hostiles.

“I am pleased to inform you that I just returned from a very fruitful visit to my friend and brother the Lamdo Banyo Senator Muhamman Gabdo Yahya where we spent good time deliberating on how to collaborate to ensure security of our communities and check incidents of transborder attacks and crimes.

“Over three days, we engaged in series of activities aimed at strengthening the relationship between our two monarchies. The highlight of this historic visit was a joint prayer session held at the Banyo Central mosque, where we  prayed for lasting peace and prosperity for our Nations.

“The joint prayer session served as a poignant reminder of the shared values and aspirations of the people living in these border regions. It created an atmosphere of unity and solidarity, transcending geographical boundaries and emphasizing the importance of collaboration during these challenging times. This gesture further reinforced the message of togetherness and highlighted the significance of mutual respect and support in building strong relationships.

“This visit has rekindled the years-long history of collaboration and togetherness, especially at this time when both countries are facing security challenges. It is crucial for us to stand united and work hand in hand to overcome these obstacles and create a peaceful and prosperous future for our people” the Monarch said.

The First Class monarch also used the visit to deliver the message of peace from Taraba State Governor Dr Agbu Kefas where he assured the Cameronian authority of the Taraba State Government agenda for peace and security collaboration with all neighbors.

Gashaka, one of the oldest Chiefdoms in Taraba State shares boundaries of about 180 Kilometres with the Republic of Cameron and has a long history of fraternity within the border communities.

The visit is expected to inspire others to bridge divides and seek peaceful resolutions in the pursuit of progress and prosperity.

Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.

According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.

Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.

Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.

Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
