Air Cote D’Ivoire Commenced Direct Abuja Flights, With Attractive Packages
Air Cote D’Ivoire, which recently launched direct flights to Abuja, has promised to operate an open door relationship with its travel agents and passengers, by offering them all the needed support to help grow the market.
As part of plans to encourage them, the airline’s country manager, Mr. Moustapha Fofona, said aside from giving agents 6 per cent commission rate on tickets sold, the airline would also reward passengers.
These would range from free business and economy class tickets for a specified volume of business, as well as various accruable benefits through its frequent flyer programme tagged SMILE.
“We have started Abuja with three weekly flights one year after commencing five weekly flights to Lagos. With your support we can grow the number of flights in Abuja to five weekly flights or even seven,” he said.
“We are excited by this new service into Abuja. The flight arrived on time and departed on schedule. And in spite of little or no adverts we had five passengers in business class and the flight was half full. Abuja is an important market for Air Cote d’Ivoire, because of the diplomatic community and Economic Community for West African States (ECOWAS),” he said.
Present at the occasion to witness the commencement of the flight were Ambassador Toure Nee Kone Maman, Cote d’Ivoire Ambassador to Nigeria; Ambassador Abubakar Samba, Senegalese Ambassador to Nigeria and Mr. Protogene Marc Nsengiyaremye, representing the Charge D’Affaires of Rwanda in Nigeria.
In her remarks, Maman expressed appreciation to the federal government for allowing the airline to commence direct flights into Abuja.
“Nigeria is a big nation and the expectations are high. We thank everyone for supporting Air Cote D’Ivoire and we will work hard to meet their expectations,” she said.
Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.
According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.
Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.
Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.
Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
