“ODC Denounces Wike’s Claims on Tinubu’s Election Victory”

The Oduduwa Development Congress (ODC) has strongly rebutted assertions made by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, regarding his alleged influence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ascent to power.

In a press conference held in Lagos, ODC President Oluwasanmi Sola dismissed Wike’s claims as baseless and insinuated insubordination in his statements. The group emphasized that Tinubu’s presidency was a result of the Nigerian people’s will, with over 8.7 million votes cast in his favor in the 2023 presidential election.

Sola emphasized, “Wike’s assertions are unfounded and akin to political arrogance. The electoral results, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), unequivocally demonstrate that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was elected by Nigerians as their President, not Wike.”

He highlighted Tinubu’s significant victory in meeting constitutional requirements, including securing the highest number of votes and exceeding the threshold in states across the country. Sola reiterated that Tinubu’s win reflected the genuine choice of the electorate, a fact acknowledged by local and international observers, as well as upheld by the Supreme Court.

Refuting Wike’s purported role in Tinubu’s victory, Sola questioned how the FCT Minister could claim credit when he failed to secure the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ticket for himself.

Sola concluded by stating, “Wike’s attempt to take credit for President Tinubu’s electoral success is baseless and misleading. His unfounded assertions warrant an apology to Nigerians for attempting to usurp our collective mandate.”
