Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has criticized some Nigerians for undermining President Bola Tinubu’s administration due to his recent economic policies.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) leader stated on Wednesday that the removal of the fuel subsidy and the unification of the exchange rates were bold measures by President Tinubu to improve Nigeria’s economy.
Uzodimma expressed disappointment that instead of recognizing the President’s efforts, some prominent Nigerians are disparaging his administration through the media.
He recalled that the three main presidential candidates in the 2023 elections had promised to end the fuel subsidy, but noted that the two candidates who lost to Tinubu are now acting contrary to their promises.
Uzodimma appealed to the media to support President Tinubu’s vision for economic recovery instead of amplifying the views of pessimists.
He emphasized that Tinubu’s administration possesses the vision and capability to transform Nigeria’s economy into the fastest-growing one in Africa.
The governor remains optimistic that the current federal economic policies will lead Nigeria to prosperity and urged journalists to educate Nigerians on the benefits of these policies rather than focusing on their negative impacts.
Uzodimma acknowledged the economic hardships caused by these policies but assured that Nigerians would eventually reap the benefits.
He urged Nigerians to be patient with Tinubu’s administration, likening the current difficulties to birth pangs that will ease once the desired outcomes are achieved.
