Court Sentences Two to 10 Years for Illegal Firearms Possession in Delta

A Delta State High Court in Kwale has sentenced Joshua Anamali, 25, and Nelson Adoh, 30, to ten years in prison for illegal possession of firearms.

Presided over by Hon Justice O.F. Enenmo, the court found the duo guilty of possessing a cut-to-size single-barrel gun. They are currently held at the Custodial Centre in Kwale.

Prosecuting Counsel, Mrs. Catherine O. Oboreruomo, revealed that two witnesses testified against the defendants, who defended themselves in court. Following the judgment, Mrs. Oboreruomo urged young people to avoid crime, emphasizing that it leads to condemnation and destruction.

The two were arrested on January 27, 2021, during a routine police stop-and-search operation in Ndemili, Ndokwa-West Local Government Area of Delta State, where the firearm was recovered from them.
