The Katsina State Police Command has arrested Halilu Yusuf, a 21-year-old resident of Gezawa near Shinkafi village, for allegedly kidnapping a six-year-old boy. The arrest took place on August 17, following credible intelligence received by the police.
According to police spokesperson ASP Abubakar Aliyu, Yusuf lured the victim, who is the son of his mentor, from Kofar-Sauri quarters and demanded a ransom of N2 million from the child’s father. After the kidnapping, Yusuf reportedly kept the boy in his room overnight before relocating him to another location.
The suspect contacted the father anonymously to inform him of the abduction. In response, the police, led by the DPO of GRA, Katsina, mobilized a team that successfully tracked down and arrested Yusuf, rescuing the boy unharmed.
During interrogation, Yusuf confessed to the crime. He is expected to face charges in court once the investigation is complete.
