 Niger state Commissioner for homeland security, Brigadier General Bello  Mohammed RTD, has come under attack over his recent utterances on the false claims that the people of Allawa ravaged by Bandits have returned home.

The indigenous Gbagyi association known as Gbenu Boknu Yakwo Association Niger state,in a statement  signed by the President of the association to News men in Minna,Comrade Bako Wakili Bosso, said it is unfortunate that  such Calibre of person will utter  such statement as commissioner in charge of security in the state.

The Association expressed shock over such claim by the commissioner and described him not fit to over see such a sensitive position at this present circumstance the people of the area found themselves.

   Comrade Wakili said "it seems the commissioner is not in touch with the happenings of terrorism,not aware that the Kidnappers have since sent away people of Allawa and adjoining Communities and have taken over their ancestral homes

Comrade Bako Wakili Bosso however, denied the Commissioner’s claim that normal life has returned to Allawa Area under Shiroro Local Government area of the state.

"The commissioner's statement can not only  be described as a mockery, but a clear demonstration of his total detachment from the plight of residents of the affected communities who are currently chased out of their ancestral land by bandits and terrorists." 

According to him it is no longer hidden  that the people of the area,"our brethren and hundreds of residents of Allawa and adjourning Communities fled the Communities on April 25, 2024 since the soldiers stationed in the community were withdrawn".

"This is five months after the residents of Allawa Community under Shiroro Local Government Area of the State fled their homes as a result of increasing and unabated attacks from bandits following the withdrawal of soldiers from the community. "

"Till  today no body have explain or informed the world why the soldiers are yet to return, he is busy chasing shadow resorting to cheap media blackmail to the detriment of our helpless farmers".

” It is no longer news that a recent reports from all credible and verifiable media outlets had indicated that the bandits and terrorists are presently having a field day as they have moved into the communities where they engage in farming.

“We condemn the Commissioner’s attempt in trivializing the plight of our people who are forced into being Internally Displaced Persons (IDP’s).”this has clearly exposed his desperate desire to misleading the public on the true security situation of Allawa Community and other adjourning villages suffering from the endless killings and we condemn this gross inefficiency and incompetence of the retired Brigadier General. “

It has also clearly proof that the Commissioner has failed in his responsibility of purging Allawa of banditry and terrorism and Niger State by extension of crimes and criminalities". 

The security situation under the Commissioner of Homeland Security has deteriorated and worsen not only in the rural communities but even in the State capital as there has been increasing cases of thuggery, armed robbery and youth restiveness among other violent crimes in the state.
