Enzo Zidane, the eldest son of football icon Zinedine Zidane, has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 29. Enzo, who last played for Fuenlabrada in Spain’s third division, decided to step away from the sport to focus on personal matters, including his family and investments.
Renowned sports journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news, stating, “Zinedine Zidane’s son Enzo has retired from football at the age of 29. He last played for Fuenlabrada in the 3rd tier of Spanish football and will now focus on his private life, including investments.”
Enzo Zidane’s football career spanned a decade, during which he made 203 appearances, scored 13 goals, and provided 24 assists. He had stints with various clubs, including Real Madrid Castilla, Alavés, Lausanne, Rayo Majadahonda, Aves, Almería, and Rodez Aveyron, before concluding his career at Fuenlabrada, where he featured in 29 matches.
One of his most memorable moments came during his single appearance for Real Madrid’s senior team, where he scored on his debut in a 6-1 Copa del Rey victory over Cultural Leonesa.
While Enzo has chosen to leave football behind, his brothers continue to pursue careers in the sport. Luca Zidane is the starting goalkeeper for Eibar, Theo Zidane plays as a midfielder for Córdoba in Spain’s third division, and the youngest, Elyaz Zidane, recently joined Real Betis’ academy and represents France at the U-17 level.
