Ogun NIPR Tackles Nigeria’s Food Security Crisis at Annual Colloquium

The Ogun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) is poised to address Nigeria’s growing food security crisis at its 2024 Annual Colloquium. Themed “Galvanising Public and Private Stakeholders Towards Addressing Food Crisis in Nigeria: Public Relations as Key Driver,” the event aims to foster strategic partnerships between public and private sectors to tackle the nation’s food challenges.

Scheduled for Thursday at the Cinema Hall, June 12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta, the colloquium will feature prominent figures, including Governor Dapo Abiodun as the Special Guest of Honour.

Highlighting the importance of the event, the lead paper will be delivered by Prof. Olusola Kehinde, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. A panel of experts will include agripreneur Mr. Olakunle Osunsanya, public relations specialist Mr. Ayodele Ishola, and chartered accountant Dr. Gbenga Adeoye.

Ogun State’s Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Bolu Owotomo, is set to present the keynote address, engaging key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors involved in Nigeria’s food production value chain.

The colloquium will explore the pivotal role of public relations in addressing the food crisis, focusing on fostering public-private partnerships, promoting agricultural development, and enhancing effective communication strategies.

Governor Abiodun will receive a Distinguished Award during the event in recognition of his administration’s significant contributions to agriculture and food security. Additionally, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), will be honored with an Award of Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility for its commitment to research, teaching, and extension services in agriculture.
