The Senate Tuesday , passed for third reading , bills seeking for establishment of Federal University of Technology Ilaro in Ogun State and Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia , Kaduna State.
Passage of both bills by the Senate were sequel to consideration of report presented for that purpose by its Committee on Tertiary Education and TETFUND .
As contained in the report , presented by Chairman of the Committee, Senator Dandutse Mohammed ( APC Katsina South) , the establishment bill for Federal University of Technology Ilaro in Ogun State , is predicated on upgrading the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro to Federal University of Technology.
Senator Solomon Adeola ( APC Ogun West ), sponsored the bill , which was first considered in the 9th Senate but didn’t see the light of the day .
The Senate on Federal University of Applied Sciences Kashia , Kaduna State , approved recommendation of the committee , for change of location of the University from Manchok as earlier proposed by sponsor of the bill , Senator Sunday Katung ( PDP Kaduna South), to Kachia.
The red chamber accordingly after clause by clause consideration of the reports , passed the two bills for third reading .
