Serikin Gobir’s Death: Durbar Committee pays condolence visit to Emir of Ilorin

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has described the late Serikin Gobir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ahmad, as a loyal traditional title holder in the Ilorin Emirate and an easy going man.

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari made this observation on Monday when members of the Ilorin Emirate Durbar Committee led by it’s Chairman, Engineer Yahaya Alapasanpa, paid him a condolence visit over the death of Late Serikin Gobir, who was a member of the Durbar committee.

The Emir, who expressed shock and worry over his death, said the entire Emirate and the State would sorely miss him, “being a loyal, dutiful, polite and easy going person”.

The traditional ruler appealed to families, loved ones and friends of the deceased to always remember him and put him in prayers.

Earlier, the Chairman of the committee, Engineer Alapasanpa, who is the Danmasani of Ilorin, said: “The late Serikin Gobir would be seriously missed and always remembered due to his diligence and hard work particularly during Durbar activities.”

He added: “The late Serikin Gobir was the Chairman, Sub Committee of Procession of the Ilorin Emirate Durbar, and was very active at various Durbar activities since the committee was inauguration in 2018 by the Emir.

“The deceased was very humble and highly respective and was never found wanting in the discharge of his duties.”

The Committee later paid a similar condolence visit to the family of the Late Serikin Gobir at his family house, where Engineer Alapasanpa led a special prayer for the repose of the soul of the deceased and prayed God to grant those he left behind the gratitude to bear the irreparable loss.

A member of the Gobir family, Nasiru Gobir, who received the committee on behalf of the family, thanked the committee for their condolence visit.

Other members of the committee on the entourage of the Danmasani of Ilorin are the National President of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressives Union, IEDPU, Alhaji Abdulmumini AbdulMalik, Retired AIG Adisa Bolanta, Alhaji Yinka Yahaya -Madawaki, Barrister Ayegbami Bushira and Alhaji Tunde Akanbi.

Meanwhile, the Fidau prayer for the repose of the soul of late Serikin Gobir would come up on Saturday at the Fada Gobir’s family house, Gambari beginning at 10am, and would be presided over by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Mohammad Bashir.
